Biography

Dr Maree A. Skillen is a Lecturer in the area of Mathematics Education. Her scholarly interests focus on mathematics education, as well as innovative technology-based learning in K-12 and teacher education contexts. She is the former Director of Academic Program, Primary and had responsibility for the undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered in the School of Education at Western Sydney University (WSU). These included the Bachelor of Education (Primary) program, Bachelor of Education - Primary (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education) program, Master of Teaching (Primary) and OES third party version of this program.
Dr Skillen has worked full-time in Education for over 30 years, and has a K-12 background in Science, Technology and Mathematics. She has experience in Sydney and Victorian Universities, and has developed Pathway programs for the Life Sciences and Physical Sciences, as well as Engineering programs for delivery offshore in Jakarta, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. Dr Skillen has presented a STEM Roadshow to female students in India.
