Biography

Cristian Follmer has B.S. in Chemistry, PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and Postdoctoral at Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University, USA. Prof. Follmer was awarded with the Young Scientist (2013) and Scientist (2019) Scholarship of the State of Rio de Janeiro - Foundation for Support of Research in the State of Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ). Currently, Prof. Follmer is Research Fellow II of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), and Associate Professor at the UFRJ, where he is the leader of a research group focusing on the mechanisms of neurodegeneration associated with protein misfolding and aggregation.
