Biography

Dr Alba Lanau is a Ramon y Cajal fellow and TT associate professor at the Political and Social Sciences department at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Before joining UPF she held a Beatriu de Pinós Marie Curie Postdoc at the Centre d’Estudis Demogràfics examining intra-household inequalities between children and adults in Europe. She has also worked as a lecturer at the University of Bristol and as a researcher at Cardiff University.
Dr Lanau holds a PhD in Social Policy from University of Bristol with a thesis on youth poverty and labour market transitions. Her research focuses on two main areas: poverty (measurement, child poverty and in-work poverty) and gender violence. Her previous work has been published in a range of high impact journals including the Journal of Social Policy, Child Indicators Research and the Journal of Interpersonal Violence. She is Associate Editor at the Journal of Poverty and Social Justice.
