Place and date of birth: Napoli, January 27th, 1965.
Degree: Chemistry, 110/110 with honours, University of Napoli “Federico II”, July 14th, 1989, discussing the thesis: “Solid phase synthesis of cyclic oligonucleotides”, supervisor Prof. Ciro Santacroce.
PhD: Chemistry, September 1993, discussing the thesis: “Chemical synthesis of modified oligonucleotides and nucleoside analogues”, supervisor Prof. Ciro Santacroce.
Academic career:
October 1994: Appointed “Assistant Professor” in Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences,
University of Napoli “Federico II”.
From November 1994 to August 1995, she spent a research period in the laboratories of Prof. George Just, McGill University, Montréal, Canada, working at a project on the chemical synthesis of nucleoside analogues having modified ribose residues.
January, 1998: Confirmed in the position of Researcher in Organic Chemistry.
January, 2001: Second confirmation in the position of Researcher in Organic Chemistry.
From October 2003- 2021: Associate Professor in Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Science, University of Napoli “Federico II”.
From 2021: Full Professor in Organic Chemistry at the Department of Chemical Sciences, University of Napoli Federico II.
Scientific interests:
1) Chemical synthesis, characterization and utilizations of natural and modified oligonucleotides.
2) Synthesis of novel modified nucleosides with potential antiviral and antitumour activity.
3) Chemical synthesis of glycoconjugates.
4) Chemical synthesis and characterization of molecules of peptidic structure.
She has been the supervisor of several master degree and PhD theses in Organic Chemistry.
She is co-author of over than 130 articles, published in international scientific journals, as well as of more than 100 poster and oral communications presented at international symposiums and conferences.
