Biography
I work as Associate Professor in the Departamento de Ciencia de los Alimentos y Tecnología Química, Facultad de Ciencias Químicas y Farmacéuticas, Universidad de Chile. I graduated as a food engineer and received my M.Sc. degree in Food Science from the Universidad de Chile and lately a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from the Universidad de Santiago de Chile.
Starting my research in 1990 in Food Quality and Safety, I have focused on genetic traceability and authentication of seafood. I head the Food Quality Research Center (FQRC). The FQRL seeks toward Food Quality looking for Reliable, authentic food, produced in a Sustainable and Social Responsible way, through the development of traceability tools. Derived problems and challenges are faced from an interdisciplinary perspective, gathering specialized researchers in Food Quality and Animal Production, the latter with the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.
