Biography

I am Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Neurosciences at the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). My research interests are in the area of understanding brain signaling mechanisms of neurotransmitters, lysosomes, and exosomes that are uilized for normal brain functions and which are regulated in brain diseases of neurodegeneration and injury. My laboratory research utilizes peptide mass spectrometry for assessment of protease mechanisms in signaling mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease, traumatic brain injury, and related for discovery of novel protease inhibitor probes for drug development plans.
