Biography
I am a Neuroscientist and a Cancer Biology professional with capabilities in education, curriculum development, and technical laboratory training in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Neuroscience techniques. These techniques include but are not limited to: histology (immunohistochemistry and staining of cells, fresh and fixed tissues of pathologic and non-pathologic samples), primary cell culture, in vivo mouse models of epilepsy, lung cancer, and neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) proteomics, protein characterization, drug delivery, and molecular biology. I have skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, laboratory management, administration, and leadership roles, such as being Chair of the Neuroscience Department at UCC for 6 years. I have proficient written and verbal communication in Spanish and English, and speak Portuguese. I mentor students in research, from high school to Ph.D. level. I am committed to teaching, research, community outreach, and science communication to a scientific and non-scientific audience.
