Biography
Ahmed Al Marouf is currently a Ph.D. Candidate working towards developing applied AI methods and frameworks including, Fairness-aware & Interpretable Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithms to address critical biomarkers in various cancer types. He is also acting as a Sessional Instructor and Graduate Assistant-Teaching at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Calgary, Canada. He is working in the Advanced Database Systems and Applications (ADSA) lab under the supervision of Prof. Reda Alhajj. He received multiple awards and scholarships, including Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES), Open Doctoral Scholarship, University of Calgary Board of Governors Research Award etc. He got more than six years of teaching experience at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Daffodil International University (DIU), Dhaka, Bangladesh, where he acted as the Technical Lead of the Multidisciplinary Action Research (MARS) Lab. He published more than forty-five (45) research articles in international conferences and journals including several Q1 and Q2 journals. His research interest lies in Health and Biomedical Informatics, Fairness-aware Machine Leaning, Explainable Artificial Intelligence, Computational Social Systems and Human-Computer Interaction.
