Biography

Research is focused primarily on understanding the molecular mechanisms governing the repair of various types of DNA damage. Bacterial, yeast and human repair pathways are studied using a variety of genetic and biochemical tools with the primary emphasis being determination of macromolecular structure using X-ray crystallography. With expertise in protein structure determination, a significant effort is also placed on developing new chemotherapeutics using structure-based drug design methods.
