S. M. Sohel Murshed is currently a professor at Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal. He is a research member of Centro de Química Estrutural ([email protected]) and Center for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research (IN+) of IST. Prof. Murshed obtained his PhD degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore in 2007. Before joining IST, he was a FCT researcher and an Assistant Professor (conv.) at the Faculty of Sciences of the same university. Previously, he also worked as postdoctoral fellow at NTU, Singapore and University of Central Florida, USA. He has so far authored/coauthored 7 books, 20 book chapters, and 125 papers in leading international journals and conferences. He has Google Scholar Citations of 4226 with h-index of 25 and several of his papers have been classified as highly cited papers by ISI Web of Science. He is a Portugal national delegate to the management committee of a European COST action (NanoUptake: 2016-2020) and is also serving as a group leader of this Action. He is an Editor of "Journal of Nanofluids" since 2012 and an Associate Editor of “Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry”. He is also editorial board member of few other international journals. Prof Murshed is member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Society of Thermal and Fluids Engineers (ASTFE) and European Thermoelectric Society (ETS). He has served as a reviewer for research proposals for different organizations, several PhD and Masters theses, and about 40 international journals including numbers of top level ones like "Nature". His main research interests include nanofluids, ionanofluids, micro- and nanoscale heat transfer, nanomaterials-fluids systems, heat exchangers, microfluidics, advanced energy and cooling technologies.
