Biography

Hojoon Son is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering with the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), supervised by Dr. Fan Zhang. He received the B.S. degree in mechanical engineering and electrical and electronic engineering, and the M.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, Republic of Korea, in 2017 and 2020, respectively. His master’s thesis topic is “Automated swept path analysis of oversized cargo transportation through deep reinforcement learning.” Prior to joining Georgia Tech, he gained professional experience as a Software Engineer with NEXTLab Company Ltd., from 2020 to 2023.

His research interests include knowledge-based systems to retrieve key information from industrial systems and support human decision-making, specifically machine vision, vehicle/robot simulation with reinforcement learning, and decision support systems.
