Biography
Bachir graduated with a first MEng degree (with honours) in Electrical Engineering and Electronics from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in 2006. Later, he received his PhD “Image Reconstruction of Low Conductivity Materials using Magnetic Induction Tomography” at the University of Manchester. In 2010, He took up the post of a “Research Associate” at the University of Manchester. Then, he was hired in 2015 by CableDetection Ltd to work as an engineer in the R&D department. Later, in 2017, he joined the BioMediTech Research Institute at the University of Tampere (Finland) where he is currently working as a Senior Research Fellow.
Bachir’s research is in the field of sensing, imaging and signal processing, where he aims to develop innovative ideas and system solutions in the areas of magnetic induction imaging, electrical impedance tomography, non-destructive testing and remote sensing.
In recent years, Bachir’s research has focused on the development of low-cost biomedical systems for detection and continuous monitoring of pathologies including electrical impedance tomography for brain imaging and wireless bioimpedance capsule endoscopy for detection of diseases related to the digestive tract.
