Biography
Daghustani is an associate professor who works as the coordinator of Learning and Developmental Disabilities Programme, under the Department of Special Education at Arabian Gulf University. She holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Glasgow, College of Social Science in Autism and Social Justice, and a Master’s in Intellectual Disability and Autism from the Arabian Gulf University.
Daghustani’s research focuses on vulnerable populations, research ethics and social justice. Her research interests show in her publications and her volunteering work as an advocate for victims of domestic and sexual abuse, and as a board member in an autism centre in addition to her work with parents and professionals in the field of special education. As part of her community service, Daghustani revised a curriculum for teaching autistic students and gave lectures on several topics on autism.
Daghustani is the author of many papers focusing on autism, intellectual disability and abuse and developed scales to measure sexual behaviour and socio-sexual skills among autistic adolescents. She attended several international conferences and seminars in the field of special education and took several workshops including the Oxford Strategic Leadership Programme at the University of Oxford. Daghustani is a board member in International Journal of Educational Research Open and reviewed many academic articles in several scientific journals regionally and internationally.
