Biography

Dr. Christopher Rothmann is a lecturer and innovation manager at the University of the Free State Natural and Agricultural Sciences. With a passion for the great outdoors, Dr. Rothmann is particularly drawn to natural solutions in biotechnology, specializing in microbial product formulations that have applications in the agricultural sector.
During his doctoral studies in Microbial Biotechnology, Dr. Rothmann founded LiquidCulture™, a biotech company specialising in microbial bioprospecting and propagation. He now shares his knowledge and experience with students, assisting them with entrepreneurship and business development. As the leader of the UFS experimental farm innovation and Industry relations team, Dr. Rothmann believes that an innovative mindset will naturally lead to industry-relevant research. As such, he heads the research and development for UFS-industry partner products.
