Biography
Dr. Otávio Bianchi is an accomplished professional with a diverse academic background and extensive experience in the field of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, particularly focusing on Polymers and their Applications. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the prestigious University of Caxias do Sul in 2007. He further pursued his academic journey and obtained his Ph.D. in Material Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in 2011. Driven by a passion for education and pedagogy, Dr. Bianchi pursued a specialization in Teaching in Higher Education from PUC-RS in 2019, which has helped him become an exemplary educator. He is currently an esteemed professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, holding positions at both DEMAT and PPGE3M. In addition, he serves as a valued collaborator in the Graduate Program in Engineering and Materials Science (PGMAT) at the University of Caxias do Sul.
Dr. Bianchi's research interests encompass a wide array of critical topics within the realm of Materials Engineering. He is recognized for his expertise in reactions of polymers, with a particular focus on the synthesis and characterization of polymers via reactive processing (TPU). Additionally, his work involves exploring innovative polymer reactions using dielectric heating, as well as the preparation of hybrid nanoparticles of oligomeric silsesquioxane polyhedra (POSS). Moreover, he has contributed significantly to the field of kinetics of reactions using thermoanalytical methods.
His contributions to the scientific community are not limited to his research achievements. Dr. Bianchi plays an essential role as an editor for the journal Scientia cum Industria, further showcasing his commitment to disseminating valuable knowledge. He is also actively involved in the editorial boards of Polymer Testing and Heliyon, renowned publications in the field.
Dr. Bianchi is an esteemed member of the Board of Directors of the esteemed Brazilian Association of Polymers (ABPOL). As a testament to his leadership abilities, he previously served as the coordinator of the 15th Brazilian Congress on Polymers, leaving a lasting impact on the event's success and prominence.
Furthermore, his expertise is highly sought after, leading him to serve as a member of the advisory committee for FAPERGS, where he actively contributes to shaping research funding and policies in the scientific community.
