Biography
Jean Costa Silva is a PhD student at the University of Georgia. His primary linguistic interests pertain to Second Language Acquisition (English-Portuguese), Syntax, Semantics, and Cognitive Linguistics. He has a BA in English Linguistics, English Literature, and TESOL from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), and teaching certificates from the University of Oregon and the University of Cambridge. Prior to pursuing a graduate degree at UGA, Jean taught English as foreign language in Slovakia and Brazil for over ten years altogether. In 2017-2018 Jean was a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant in the Department of Romance Languages at UGA. From 2019-2023, he was a Goizueta Fellow at the Center for Latino Achievement and Success in Education (CLASE). Jean is currently a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Linguistics. He is also the Executive Editor of UGA Working Papers in Linguistics.
