Biography
Paolo Domenico Parchi was born in 1978 in Italy. He graduated with honours in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pisa in 2003 and he specialized in Orthopaedic and Traumatology in 2008. From January 2009 to 2010 he was Research Fellow at the Ist Orthopaedic Division of the University of Pisa. From December 2010 to December 2017 he was Assistant Professor at the 1st Orthopaedic and Traumatology Division of the University of Pisa. PhD in “Health technologies evaluation of innovations in the biomedical field” at the University of Pisa.
From December 2017, he is Associate Professor in the disciplinary sector MED / 33 at the University of Pisa. Member of the board of the Italian Orthopedic Research Society IORS (President of the XIX IORS National Congress Pisa 1-2 December 2017). President of the Italian Digital Biomanufacturing Network IDBN Italian network for 3D printing in the biomedical sector. (President III National IDBN Congress 28-30 October 2019). In 2011 he was the winner of the Tuscany Start CUP with the "e-Spress 3D Research Project" (e-Simulation and Planning from Radiological Exams to Surgery).
Founder of espres3D spin-off company of the University of Pisa and of the Sant’Anna School for Advanced Studies of Pisa (www.espres3d.org). Author and coauthor of articles in indexed journals on various research areas such as computer assisted surgery and additive manufacturing (3d printing) methods in the orthopedic and trauma surgery [total number of articles 60, citations 549, h index 14 source Scopus]. Author and co-author of patents in the field of orthopedic and trauma surgery and computer-assisted orthopedic surgery. Member of scientific societies in orthopedic and trauma fields. Speaker at various national and international conference. Habilitation to full professor (ASN2020) 12.04.2021.
