Biography

I have worked for over two decades in the biological sciences, beginning as a lab aide in high school, completing baccalaureate training in neuroscience and biology, and receiving some graduate training in neuroscience. For the past seven years I have been working with tissue culture, viruses, and histology at the Eye and Ear Institute of Pittsburgh, and I am the current Supervisor for our Tissue Culture and Histology Core Module Facility.

My specialties include specimen fixation, processing, sectioning, immunohistochemistry, H&E staining, frozen sections, paraffin sections, methacrylate resin sections, mammalian tissue culture, hybridoma culture, primary corneal microdissection and explants for primary culture, embryonic stem cells, adenovirus, herpes simplex 1 (HSV-1), virus purification, plaque assays, and other skills.
