Biography
Alba Reguant Closa is a Registered Dietitian with a Master’s degree in Sports Performance by the Spanish Olympic Committee and the Autonomic University of Madrid. In 2011, she completed the International Olympic Committee Diploma in Sports Nutrition. As recipient of a Fullbright scholarship, Alba completed her Master’s degree in sports nutrition at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and did her final reserach project with the collaboration of the United States Olympic training center in Colorado Springs. During 13 years she was the the head dietitian in the sports science center VitalSport, in Andorra that collaborate with different sport and health organizations in Andorra and beyond borders.
For the past 8 years, she has grown an interest about the environmental impact of food systems. Her PhD, lead by Dr. Nanna Meyer, focused on the integration of environmental sustainability into sports nutrition.
Currently she is a Post-Doc at the Life Cycle Assessment Group in Agroscope, Reckenholz, under Thomas Nemecek, focusing on nutritional, health and environmental impacts of different diets.
Born in the Mediterranean region, Alba is highly interested in sports nutrition and performance, but also in focusing her efforts on raising awareness relative to sustainability and food sovereignty, and loves a fresh, seasonal and local home cooked meal.
