Biography
My career objective is to contribute to the field of plant science by working in particular with sustainable development and ensuring food safety in an eco-friendly manner. In September 2017, I received a PhD degree from the University of Madras, India. I identified novel QTLs and candidate genes in finger millet for fungal resistance and phosphorus starvation tolerance from my PhD study. In February 2014, I was awarded first prize for an excellent presentation of my research work in “International symposium - Trends in Plant Science Research” at the Department of Botany, University of Calcutta, India. In 2017, I was awarded the best research scholar for best publications by Loyola College, India. During my PhD, I was awarded two grants by the Government of India. In addition to my grants, I worked in Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowship with Dr S. Antony Ceasar, University of Leeds, United Kingdom. From April 2018 to December 2020, I worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Zhejiang A&F University, China. In January 2021, I joined as an Associate professor at Nanjing Forestry University, China. Since April 2018, I have been studying the role of transposable elements in bamboo epigenetics to understand the genetic architecture of bamboo growth and development. I attended several international conferences, symposiums, and training courses and workshops, to strengthen my scientific knowledge and collaborate with international scientists. I also participated as a resource person and delivered the scientific lectures at workshops and National and International conferences. I have been as an advisory committee member at conferences and serving as a regular reviewer and editor in SCI-Indexed Journals.
