Biography

Jorge Posada is Associate Director and Scientific Director of Vicomtech since 2001. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from the Technische Universität Darmstadt (Germany), an Executive MBA from IE Business School, and a diploma degree in mechanical engineering (honors) from the EAFIT University (Colombia). After working for some years at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics in Darmstadt, Germany, in the Department of Industrial Applications, he helped to create and establish the Applied Research Centre Vicomtech (www.vicomtech.org, San Sebastian -Basque Country-, Spain). Vicomtech is one of the leading Applied Research Centres in Spain in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Visual Computing and Interaction. Vicomtech currently has more than 220 highly qualified researchers working in the application of Artificial Intelligence and Visual Communication & Interaction to different sectors such as Industry & Advanced Manufacturing, Intelligent Transport Systems, Biomedicine & Health, Cultural and Creative Industries, Digital Media & Language and Digital Security. He is also President of the Board of GraphicsVision.ai (www.graphicsvision.ai), the International AI Network for Graphics, Vision and Media Technologies, with leading institutions in different locations worldwide.
Jorge Posada is a Senior Member of ACM and member of Eurographics and IEEE. He has co-authored over 100 scientific papers and has participated in several committees of international conferences (e.g. General Chair ACM Web3D 2023). He is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal on Interactive Design and Manufacturing (Springer), and Multimedia Tool and Applications (Springer) .
