Biography

Lianping Hou obtained his PhD degree from the Institute of Semiconductors(IOS), Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS), Beijing, China (2006). In 2006, he joined the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Bristol, UK as a Research Associate. In 2007, he joined the School of Engineering, University of Glasgow, UK, where he worked on developing high frequency and high power semiconductor mode-locked lasers. He is currently a Reader at the University of Glasgow working on Semiconductor Lasers, Photonic Integrated Circuits, Nanotechnology, Terahertz technology, and Biosensors. He is a senior IEEE member, an Associate Editor of Electronics Letters, Editor of the American Journal of Modern Physics and Photonics. He has authored and co-authored more than 180 journal and conference papers. He is a visiting professor at the IOS-CAS, and Wuhan University of Technology(WHUT). He has chaired sessions at numerous well-known international conferences and continues to review articles for numerous top-level journals. From 2012, he has secured grants of more than £7.0 M as an investigator or co-investigator.
