Biography

Ben is an independent Consultant Scientist specialising in Digital Chemistry. He provides expert consultation, advanced training, and contract research services in:
- High-Throughput Experimentation (HTE)
- Flow Chemistry
- Reaction Analysis
- Design of Experiments (DOE) for chemistry research

Previously Ben was the founding Facility Manager of the Centre for Rapid Online Analysis of Reactions (ROAR), a shared state-of-the-art facility providing the UK chemical R&D community with the tools and protocols needed to perform data-rich experimentation in chemistry.

Prior to establishing ROAR, Ben was a Research Associate (9/2015 to 9/2017) working with Prof. King Kuok (Mimi) Hii and Prof. Klaus Hellgardt on the application of electrochemically generated oxidants in organic synthesis. Ben received an MSc from the University of Waikato (New Zealand) before moving to the University of Cambridge (UK) as a Commonwealth Scholar in 2009. After completing his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Steven Ley in 2013 he moved to University College Cork (Ireland) to work with Prof. Anita Maguire as a Postdoctoral Research Associate of the Synthesis and Solid State Pharmaceutical Centre (SSPC).
