Biography
Nidal Zarifeh is a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Duisburg-Essen University. He received his Master's degree in Advanced Telecommunication Engineering in 2012 from Telecom Bretagne, Brest, France, and Damascus University, Syria. He also holds a Diploma degree in Electronic and Communication Engineering from Damascus University, Syria, in 2006. He has practical experience in GSM, UMTS, and LTE, working as a radio studies and optimization engineer in different mobile operators. He has also taught in the Signal Processing lab at Damascus University and other institutes.
Since February 2013, Nidal has been working at the University of Duisburg-Essen, where he is involved in several research projects on 5G mobile technologies, such as cognitive LTE, Massive MIMO, and Full-Duplex. He was a work-package leader in the COHERENT project, which was funded by the European Commission. Also he worked between 2019 and 2023 in ID4us, an RFID developement startup, involving in different projects like SteriRob and SeeYOU.
His current interests include localization, RFID, THz, and other potential 6G topics. He is participating in research projects such as 6GEM and MARIE.
