Biography

Dr Fackler is a qualified actuary (DAV) specialized in non-life reinsurance pricing and the dealing with scarce data. He regularly publishes and speaks on reinsurance and related topics. Michael studied mathematics and physics (plus some philosophy) at Munich, Pisa, and later Oldenburg, where he, in parallel with working, completed a doctorate on experience rating (with high distinction). His work experience includes ten years with leading reinsurers (Munich Re, Swiss Re group) and more years as an independent consulting actuary. He has received risk-related awards as diverse as the Hachemeister Prize of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Bavarian lifesaving medal.
