Biography

Prof. İbrahim Semih Akçomak studied economics at the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey. After completing his PhD dissertation in 2009 at UNU-MERIT he worked at the Department of Economics, Maastricht University and Centraal Planbureau – Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis. Currently he is a professor at the Department of Economics and Science and Technology Policy Studies, METU. Akçomak is also the Director of Research Center for Science and Technology Policy (TEKPOL). His research has appeared in various international and national outlets including the Economic Journal, European Economic Review and Industrial and Corporate Change and Regional Science and Urban Economics. From 2014-2018 he served as a member of the board of management of the International Schumpeter Society. His research has been funded by many national and international organizations including the EU-FP program, EBRD, UNDP and EPO.
