Biography
Dr Xiangdong Ruan is a conservation biologist who has specialized in research and consultation on wildlife conservation, and natural protected area construction and management, and monitoring and prevention of wildlife-borne infectious diseases for more than 30 years. He works in the Academy of Inventory and Planning of China’s National Forest and Grassland Administration, and has presided over more than 40 national and ministerial projects, such as the national key R & D plan topics and so on. He was named Advanced Individual for the Protection of Forests, Wild Animals and Plants by the State Forestry Administration (SFA now NFGA) in 2015, selected amongst provincial and ministerial candidates for SFA’s Million Talent Project in 2016, and named National Advanced Individual with Outstanding Contributions to Ecological Construction in 2019. He was selected as a senior expert in the field of national forestry engineering construction in 2021. He is a member of the National Animal Epidemic Prevention Expert Committee.
