Biography
I hold a PhD in Geography and have more than 20 years of experience in using geospatial and Earth Observation data for the analysis of the impact of human activities. After obtaining my PhD in Geography from the University of Strasbourg, France, I have been working at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre for 13 years on applications in the environmental and agricultural domain as well as applications on urban environments and disaster management. During the last six years at JRC I was working on satellite-based mapping for disaster management under the Copernicus Emergency Management Service. Since January 2021 I am working as project manager at Planet Labs where I am responsible for a portfolio of Earth Observation research and innovation projects covering a range of development levels, from lab-based research, through demonstration to market uptake. Since November 2022 I am leading the Analytics R&D team under the EO Lab. Common to all projects is the use of innovative technologies such as AI for extracting information from Planet’s high cadence imagery to support environmental and agricultural monitoring.
