Biography

Andreia Cerqueira is a ERA fellowship researcher in the COMPASS Research Group at the University of Aveiro. She graduated in Biology (2014) at the University of Aveiro (UA; Portugal) and during this period collaborated with the CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials (UA) for the characterization of materials with biocidal properties. In 2016, Andreia enrolled in the MSc in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the same institution. During her studies, she worked at Microlab/Fungal and Plant Biology Lab (UA) and did a research stay at the University of Valladolid (Palencia, Spain). In July 2018, Andreia joined the PIMA group as a PhD student under the Santiago Grisolía Program (Generalitat Valenciana). In 2022, she finished her international PhD in Biomedical Sciences and Health at UJI with a thesis entitled Evaluation of bioactive coatings for titanium surfaces: a proteomic approach obtaining the classification of Excellent Cum Laude. Her thesis consisted in the development and characterization biomaterial for tissue regeneration using proteomics. During this period, Andreia did a stay at the Institut für Metallische Biomaterialien (Germany), where she characterized biomaterials in co-culture systems. Andreia has worked as a researcher, participating in projects and collaborations with companies to develop surfaces that improve soft and hard tissue regeneration.
