Biography

I am a critical care physician and health services researcher in the Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at the University of Michigan. My research seeks to understand how healthcare policy, the healthcare system, and individual patient characteristics impact the quality and efficiency of care delivered to patients in the intensive care unit. This work involves collaborating with other faculty in the University of Michigan's Center for Healthcare Outcomes & Policy, and includes a number of broad interests:

Characterizing the drivers of variation in the use of critical care services;
Characterizing and removing disparities in ICU care;
Automated identification of critical illness syndromes;
Statistical methods for outcome prediction and multi-level analysis.
