Biography
I am interested in the genetic dissection of complex traits. More specifically, identifying the genetic underpinnings of complex disease etiologies in pediatric populations. Currently, I am investigating the genetic contribution to the development of complex region pain syndromes (CRPS) in children.
Previously, I worked in livestock genomics, focusing on characterizing a genomic region containing an artiodactyl specific gene family expansion that is associated with a number of red blood cell and production phenotypes in domestic sheep.
My past work also includes identifying distinguishing characteristics of mammalian hair fibers for forensic application using bright field and scanning electron microscopy. My focus was on endangered and heavily trafficked species for application in poaching and fur trapping crimes.
