Biography
Anna Cabré is an Emeritus Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and Honorary Director of the Center for Demographic Studies (CED). She has been principal investigator of the project Five Centuries of Marriages (2011-2016) funded by the European Research Council. This project of historical demography has created a database of more than 600,000 marriages celebrated in the Diocese of Barcelona between 1451 and 1905. She is actually president of the Catalan Statistical Council and an emeritus member of the Institute of Catalan Studies.
She has been Vice-President of the European Association of Population Studies (2012-2016) and Member of the Scientific Committee of the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (2011-2016). Throughout her career she has received the Cross of St. George, the Distinction of the Generalitat of Catalonia as a Recognized Researcher, the Narcis Monturiol Medal and Prize Jaume Carner of the Institute of Catalan Studies. She was honored with Memorial Francesc Candel in 2014 in the field of social sciences.
