Biography
Pamela Guevara received her B.S. in Electronics Engineering from Universidad de Concepción, Chile in 2001. She then received a Master’s degree in Medical Imaging and a Ph.D. in Physics, both from the Université Paris-Sud, France, in 2007 and 2011, respectively. She developed her graduate theses at the Neurospin Neuroimaging Center, where she started the study and analysis of diffusion MRI data. In 2011 she joined the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Universidad de Concepción, Chile, where she is currently a Full Professor. She leads a Medical Image Analysis group that focuses on developing methods for the study of brain connectivity. She has authored more than 70 journal and conference papers, proposing different methods for the analysis of dMRI tractography, including fiber clustering and segmentation methods. In recent years, she has focused on the study of superficial white matter (SWM) fibers. In particular, she has led the creation of new atlases of SWM bundles and is currently working on the improvement of the segmentation of these bundles, and on its use for diffusion-based cortical parcellations.
