Biography
Rolando Salgado is currently Proffesor in the Faculty of Engineering of the Construction and the Habitat at University of Veracruz, Mexico. He was born in the north of the State of Veracruz, in the city of Poza Rica. He obtained his bachelor degree of Civil Engineer in 1996 at University of Veracruz, Campus Poza Rica. Later, He obtained his Master degree in Engineering in the topic of structures at National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 1999. Next, He worked at Alonso y Asociados company as structural engineer. More later, He moved to city of Puebla to work in PRODISI, in the analysis and design of bridges. At the same time, from 2001 to 2004 He had the opportunity to teach the subject of Analysis and Design of Bridges in the Posgraduate division of the faculty of engineering at UNAM. In 2004 He obtained a Ph D grant from the European Union to work in the project "Sustainable Bridges". He obtained his Ph D degree in 2008 defending a thesis named "Vibration based damage detection methods in bridges: evaluation and application". In 2009 He worked in two consultant companies in Portugal, namely: Viaponte working in reviewing of the the Duckland ligth train and LCW company working in the structural analysis of a railway bridge in Algeria. Since August 2009 He is working as a Assistant Professor at University of Veracruz, Campus Veracruz doing research in the topic of damage detection in structures using vibration monitoring, structural assessment, bridge monitoring, dynamic simulation of cracked structures, wind engineering, and reliability of structures and seismic design of buildings.
