Biography
Luisa Baudino was born in Turin on May 21st 1993. Her mother tongues are Italian and French, proficiently speaks English, is fluent in Spanish and has a basic knowledge of German. Materials engineer and violinist, she obtained her Bachelor Degree of Engineering in Materials Engineering at Politecnico di Torino in 2015 with a bibliographical thesis on the thermal properties of graphene. During the same year she also obtained her Master of Arts in Violin at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi of Turin under the guide of Maestro A. di Michele.
She continued her engineering studies at her alma mater and graduated cum laude from her Master of Engineering in 2018 in the framework of an international Double Degree program with the French institute INP Grenoble Phelma in Materials Science and Engineering. Her master thesis project was conducted in the laboratories of Okayama University (Japan) and focused on graphene field effect transistors obtained through mechanical cleavage and electron beam lithographic processes.
She returned to Politecnico di Torino to pursue a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Technologies that she completed cum laude in 2022. During her Ph.D. research she left the field of microelectronics for more sustainable themes. She is now focusing her research on blue energy and harvesting raw materials from water resources. Amongst raw materials, she is mostly focused on lithium and its recovery through the use of membranes processes or electrochemical devices.
