Biography
Dr. Abbas Farahan is currently working as Assistant of Clinical Bacteriology and Genetics of microorganisms at the Department of Microbiology, Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, Iran. He completed his Ph.D degree from Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences in Clinical Bacteriology.
His area of work and research experiences includes the genetic and molecular basis of emerging antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, molecular typing of bacteria, bacterial toxin extraction, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), the rapid diagnosis of resistance using phenotypic and genotypic test for tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacteria. He is also an Advisory board member/Regional Coordinator of different journals and Research Committee of Kermanshah.
He has published more than 60 articles in international and national peer-reviewed journals. He wrote three books, including: “Medical Microbiology” and “Principles of Electrophoresis and its application to Medical Microbiology,” published in 2014 in Persian and “Medical Microbiology with basic laboratory in Persian”. He is also serving in more than 100 journals as Editor/ Reviewer. So far, Dr. Abbas Farahani has handled 15 MSc thesis. Nowadays, he is supervising another 3 MSc students.
