Biography

Hamid El Bilali graduated in agronomy from the Hassan II Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine (IAV Hassan-II) in Rabat, Morocco. He holds a MSc in Mediterranean organic agriculture (CIHEAM-Bari, 2004) and a PhD in agricultural sciences (University of Bari, Italy; 2008). He is currently a research scientist at the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM-Bari). Since December 2004, he has been engaged in research, training and cooperation activities relating to sustainable food systems, food security, Mediterranean diet, food losses and waste, sustainable food consumption and production, traditional and typical agro-food products, rural livelihoods diversification, and rural policy and governance. In the period February 2017-January 2019, he served as a post-doc fellow on “Sustainability transitions and food security” at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna. He is author of more than 200 journal and conference papers and member of the editorial boards of numerous journals dealing with agriculture, food and rural development.
