Biography

I have worked over the last 20 years across the domain of biology and informatics, my principal interests are around using automation and real-world data as a means to drive research and innovation in healthcare.
In my capacity as Senior Software Development Group Leader at the KCL Dept of Biostatistics and Health informatics (KCL BRC, UCL IHI/UCLH BRC) my team of software developers and data scientists have been able to launch several key mobile health (mHealth) and clinical informatics initiatives including the RADAR-base platform https://radar-base.org. Realising the potential for mHealth 9 years ago, we began work on a scalable system to collect data from a wide range of remote sources (phones, wearables, IoT) and to process and act on that data in real time, this work evolved into the current RADAR-base platform. RADAR-base has been widely recognised in the UK and EU and is being used to study a growing range of diseases, demonstrating both scale and flexibility in the rapidly developing area of mobile health. We are currently using RADAR-base in several COVID-19 projects such as https://covid-collab.org and https://www.covid-red.eu/en/.
