Biography
Charles Pinto received the Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Faculty of Engineering in Valenciennes (ENSIMEV), France in 1993, the D.E.A. in Mechanical Design from the University of Valenciennes (UVHC), France in 1994, and the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Bilbao, Spain in 2001.
He is a Full Professor with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UPV/EHU. His research interests are Kinematics and Dynamics in Parallel Kinematics Machines, Prototyping and Design of Manipulators and Robots, Computational Mechanics and Numerical Analysis of Structural Problems via Finite Elements Method (FEM). and the application of computational methods to these problems.
He is AEIM, STA, EAIE, ASME and IEEE member, and member of the IFToMM Technical Committee for Computational Kinematics, and Associate Editor of IROS Congress.
From 2013 to 2017, he was member of the Evaluation Committee of Engineering Degrees in the ACSUCYL Spanish Agency.
From 2018, he is intermational member of the Evaluation Committee of Engineering Degrees in the CTi French Agency.
Since 2009, he is Faculty Advisor of the Formula Student Bizkaia, from the University of the Basque Country Team.
From 2013 to 2021, he held the position of International Relations Vice Dean at the Faculty of Engineering in Bilbao.
Currently, he is the Dean of the Bilbao School of Engineering.
