Biography

Bernardo Cánovas Segura, PhD, is Postdoctoral Researcher in artificial intelligence and clinical decision support systems at the University of Murcia. He graduated in Computer Science in 2003 from the University of Murcia. He worked as software developer, automation engineer and researcher in both public and private companies during more than ten years. During this period, he also obtained Master grades in Advanced Telematics and Information Technologies (2009) and Bioinformatics (2014). In 2015, he was awarded with a national predoctoral grant and started his PhD with the Artificial Intelligence and Knowledge Engineering (AIKE) group, focusing his research on clinical decision support systems (CDSSs) for antimicrobial stewardship. In March 2019 he successfully defended his PhD thesis titled "Medical Informatics Approaches for Decision Support in Antimicrobial Stewardship", which was awarded with the Summa Cum Laude grade and the International Mention.

Nowadays he is working in research projects related with clinical decision support systems within the AIKE group at the University of Murcia. His research interests are clinical decision support systems, knowledge-based systems, knowledge representation, data mining in presence of high dimensionality and/or concept drift, and explainable artificial intelligence.
