Biography

I received the M.S. degree in electronic engineering and the Ph.D. degree in technical sciences from the Silesian University of Technology, Gliwice, Poland, in 1970 and 1986, respectively. I received the postdoctoral science degree D.Sc. in biocybernetics and biomedical engineering from the Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland, in 2009. I was the long-standing Managing Director of the Institute of Medical Technology and Equipment, Zabrze, Poland. Currently, I work at the Lukasiewicz Research Network - Institute of Medical Technology and Equipment, Zabrze, Poland as the plenipotentiary for scientific and industrial cooperation.
My research interests are focused on biomedical instrumentation, detection and telemonitoring of biomedical signals and biomedical signals processing. Especially on the analysis of biomedical signals, based on fuzzy sets theory and information granulation methods. I am involved in research based on application of Computational Intelligence methods in biomedical signal processing. My professional experiences are connected with management of research and development works in the field of medical technology and equipment. I was a leader or main participant of 34 innovation projects, concerning of the medical electronic devices, equipment and systems, among them 3 projects of the EUREKA programme. I am an author or co-author of 14 patents and 145 scientific publications in the field of computer technology as well as medical technology and equipment and biomedical engineering.
I was a founder member of the Polish Society of Biomedical Engineering. I am a senior member of the IEEE, the Committee of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Polish Society of Theoretical and Applied Electrotechnics, and the Polish Committee of Biomedical Engineering.
