Biography
Since 2000 he has been working as a researcher and research productivity fellow by CNPq in the sub-area of Pathology and Sanity in Aquaculture with the objectives of sustainable development (SDG), animal welfare (SDG 3) and sustainability of aquaculture production, awareness of producers through extension projects (ODS 2), identification of pathogens, food supplementation with immunostimulants, phytotherapeutics and food additives in improving performance (ODS 12), health and hematoimmunological parameters in animals exposed to some adversity (ODS 14) or experimental challenge. Since 2003 at UFSC it has continued the development of new immunoprophylaxis technologies and strategies for prevention and treatment of diseases, training of technicians and training of quality human resources (Undergraduate, Masters, PhD, Post-Doctoral). During the period (2003-2022), he taught classes in the Aquaculture Department at UFSC, participated in collegiate organs (Course Collegiate, Internship Coordination, Ethics Committee on Animal Use) He has advised 75 students of Scientific Initiation PIBIC/CNPq and TCC, 38 of Master Degree, 13 of PhD and 3 of Post-Doctorate. Coordinated courses on "Management and use of cephalopods, fish and amphibians in animal experimentation" by CEUA / UFSC; organized the course "Training in parasite processing"; "Workshop Anesthesia, Euthanasia and Parasitological Analysis in Cephalopods"; participated in the organizing committee of the XVI Brazilian Meeting of Pathologists of Aquatic Organisms (ENBRAPOA) and the XIII National Meeting of Frog Culture (ENAR) & IV Technofrog 2020. Acts as ad-hoc reviewer for funding agencies such as FAPEAM, INPA, EMBRAPA, CAPES, PRONEM/FACEPI/Apoio a Núcleos Emergentes, CNPq, Scientific Initiation Programs (PIBIC) and scientific articles. Coordinates and participates in research and extension projects with UFOPA, Maranhão State University, UFPE and Instituto del Mar del Peru (IMARPE) in the development of vaccine against Aeromonas hydrophila in Piaractus brachypomus and Colossoma macropomum from Amazonian aquaculture. Member of the Ethics Committee on Animal Use since 2004 and president for two years, is currently coordinator of the Postgraduate Course in Aquaculture/UFSC, Coordinator of Research Projects, Extension and Technological Development and Innovation, participation in the Program CAPES / PROCAD Amazon in solidarity with UEMA, Maranhão and coordinator of the subproject NB2 AQUOS in the project "The invasion of the golden mussel (Limnoperna fortunei) in the reservoirs of the Hydroelectric Power Plants of the upper Uruguay River. He participates as Ad-Hoc reviewer for funding agencies such as FAPESP/SP, CNPq/ FACEPE/RE, FAPESC/SC and more than 100 national and international journals. He is Associate Editor of LAJAR (Latin American Journal of Aquatic Research) and Assistant Editor of RBPV (Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Parasitology). Between 2003 and 2022, he published 290 articles in impact journals, 4 books, 39 national book chapters, one international chapter "Antiparasitic Agents" by Elsevier in "Aquaculture Pharmacology". Indicated among the 60,000 most influential scientists by "Scientific Index Stanford University 2021" and in the ranking "Top Scientists Animal Science and Veterinary 2022 and 2024". Has h-index 55, i10-index 224, 9790 citations (google scholar). Researcher 1 A CNPq.
