Biography
Dr Chaminda Gallage is a geotechnical/pavement engineering expert at QUT. Since his commencement as an academic in 2009, he has published over 85 refereed publications, supervised 10 HDR students to completion, and attracted about $1.0 million research income from industry and ARC. He has established very strong research collaboration with University of Tokyo, University of Hokkaido, Monash University, and University of Queensland. His research at QUT is strongly supported by TMR, BCC, Geofabrics Australasia, Global Synthetics, and Geotechnical consultancies in Brisbane.
Main areas of research:
Testing and modelling of pavement materials
Climate induced ground deformation and effects on infrastructure
Slope stability: analysis of various slopes taking unsaturated soil properties into account, design of warning systems for slope failures
Behaviour of unsaturated/saturated soils: shear strength, permeability, and volume change of unsaturated soils, swell/shrink properties of geo-materials
Design of customise laboratory testing apparatus and laboratory soil testing
Geogrid/Geosythetic application in Geotechnical Engineering
