Biography

Lai Ma is Associate Professor at School of Information and Communication Studies at University College Dublin, Ireland. Lai received her PhD in Information Science and a doctoral minor in Inquiry Methodology from Indiana University-Bloomington. Her research is concerned with the interrelationship between epistemology, research infrastructure, and their cultural, historical, social and political affordances. Her work has been influenced by philosophy of language, critical social theory, social studies of science and technology and history of knowledge/science. Her recent work focuses on authority and responsibility in knowledge production, involving epistemic injustice, epistemic diversity, and information boundaries.

Lai is leading a project, "Sustainable and Collaborative Research Information for Bibliodiverse Ecosystems: A Transnational Study" (SCRiBe) funded by the ERC Consolidator Grant.
