Biography

Dr Alessandro Altobelli received the B.S. degree in Information Engineering in 2009 from the University of Perugia, the M.S. degree in Automation Engineering from the University of Pisa in 2011 and the PhD in Automatics, Robotics and Bioengineering from the University of Pisa in 2015. He carried out his research activity at the Advanced Robotics Department of the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), from 2012 to 2015.
From 2016 to 2017 he worked as a software engineer in the Research and Development (R&D) group at Infinity Technology Solutions. From 2018 to 2020, he worked as a research engineer at RACE of the UK Atomic Energy Authority. At RACE, his work was undertaken in the RAIN (Robotics and Artificial Intelligence in Nuclear)
project, i.e., a UK national wide R&D project tackling practical nuclear decommissioning challenges by robotics and AI technologies. Now, he is working as a Post-Doctorate Researcher in the Humanoid Sensing and Perception Lab at IIT. His research interest is advanced control for grasping, sensing, haptic, and teleoperation
of robots.
