She has obtained her Ph.D. degree (2014-2019) in Petroleum Engineering from the School of Earth Resources, China University of Geosciences (CUG) (Wuhan), China. In 2022, CUG is ranked as the 7th best university globally for studying geosciences. She has recently completed postdoc at the Yunnan University, China (Dec, 2020- Jan 2023). She also worked at an Internee at Schlumberger SIS department (May 2013 – July 2013), and at Oil and Gas Training Institute (OGTI) (Dec 2012 – Feb 2013). Currently, she is working as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute of International Rivers and Eco-security, Yunnan University (March 2023 -present), China.

She is currently working on the Tectonic Evolution and Subsidence Impacts on the Yunnan Plateau lakes, SW China. In addition, she is also working on tight sandstone reservoir characterization of Ordos Basin, China. Her other interest lies in petrophysics, exploration geology, and reservoir geophysics using seismic, cores, and well log data through advanced machine learning, seismic attributes, seismic inversion, reservoir facies modeling, machine learning, attributes, inversion and formation evaluation methods. She is a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and Pakistan Geophysical Network (PGN).

In terms of international projects, she has actively participated in many international projects led by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Yunnan Provincial Government Leading Scientist Program. She has won a project related to the “Identification of Structural Abnormalities to Decipher the impact of Fault Subsidence in Lake Fuxian Basin” and acting as a principal investigator in the Yunnan University Postdoctoral Funding (Nos. W8163008 and W8223004 worth 84,000 RMB each). She is acting as a participant in the Provincial Postdoctoral Funding of the Yunnan Province (No.C615300504013 worth 20,000 RMB).

Dr. Aqsa has +1000 citations and has published +25 SCI publications in reputable journals such as “Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, Natural Resources Research, Frontiers in Earth Science etc.” She is also serving as an active peer reviewer and reviewed around 150 SCI publications in around +20 SCI journals.” She is acting as Guest Editor in the AI-MDPI and Frontiers in Energy Research".
