Biography

Marta Pittavino is an Assistant Professor with Tenure-Track in Statistics (RTD-B) at the Venice School of Management (VSM) of the Ca' Foscari University of Venice (UNIVE), Venice, Italy.

Prof. Pittavino holds a PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Zurich (2016) and she did her studies in Mathematics at the University of Turin, Italy (2006-2011). After her doctoral experience, she was a post-doctoral scientist (2016-2017), at the International Agency for Research on Cancer, part of the World Health Organization (WHO), in Lyon, France and a Senior Lecturer (2017-2023) at the Research Center for Statistics of the Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM), within the University of Geneva (UNIVE). She was also the manager and scientific coordinator of the Master of Science in Business Analytics. In the meanwhile, she developed an interest for philanthropy and in 2020 she started the collaboration with the Geneva Center for Philanthropy (GCP). In 2023, Marta joined as an Assistant Professor in Statistics, for 10 months, the Department of Statistics, Computer Science, Applications "Giuseppe Parenti" (DISIA), within the University of Florence (UNIFI).

Her research interests lie in the applied statistics field: data analysis, sample size calculation, forecasting and regression methods, with a focus on the development of Bayesian hierarchical (i.e. Additive Bayesian Networks) and regression models (i.e. robust and mixed models) applied to epidemiological and philanthropical studies. Medical protocol drafting. Currently, she works with demographic study: estimation and forecast of population.
