Biography

I received a Licenciate in Biology from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, Spain and a Ph.D. from Purdue University, completing postdoctoral training at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in La Jolla, California. Before joining UC, I was Head of Pharmacogenetics and Deputy Chief of the Laboratory of Developmental Pharmacology at the NICHD. I am a Professor of Environmental Health at UC COM, Associate Director of the NIEHS Center of Excellence on Environmental Genetics and an elected Fellow of the AAAS. I have authored over 200 publications; my research focuses on the role of gene-environment interactions on epigenetic responses to environmental exposures and activation of signal transduction mechanisms by complex mixtures of environmental agents.
