Biography
Dr. Kishor Sarkar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Polymer Science and Technology, University of Calcutta. Before joining here, he did postdoc in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy at the University of Pittsburgh, USA from May, 2015 to April, 2016. He received his Ph. D. in Polymer Science and Technology from the University of Calcutta, India in 2014 and his M. Tech. also from the same University in 2008. After completion his doctoral work on July, 2013, he immediately joined as Postdoctoral Research Associate at Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Lab, Department of Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India under Dr. Kaushik Chatterjee. In the same year, he was awarded prestigious Dr. D.S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship organized by University Grants Commissions (UGC), India and he joined under Prof. Giridhar Madras as his Mentor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, IISc. During his doctoral degree and postdoctoral work, he extensively involved on the developing of various polymeric nonviral vectors for gene therapy application and all of his works have been published in highly reputed International Peer Review Journals. He also authored a book chapter and filed a patent. During his postdoctoral work at IISc, he got an offer for Postdoctoral Fellow from Dr. Shilpa Sant of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Pittsburgh, USA and he joined her lab on May, 2015. He is currently working on the development of novel biopolymer through living polymerization for tissue engineering in conjugation with gene delivery.
