Biography

Dr. Bhupesh A Parate is doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from Defene Institute Advanced Technology (DIAT), Pune in state of Maharashtra, India. He is researcher, designer, and developer of power cartridges for 26 years. He rose from Scientist B through four professional levels in research and development laboratory to became Associate Director for R&D at Armament Research Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune, under aegis of DRDO, Ministry of Defence. He has contributed significantly for design analysis, development projects, performance analysis, life assessment, revision and extension, and production activities of various power cartridges. He helped to IAF and IN for life extension of imported power cartridges, resulting in huge foreign exchange savings. He has number of publications to his credit in various International /National Journals and International / National Conferences / Seminars / Workshops. Till date he has published 71 papers in various international peer reviewed journals, national and international conferences and workshops. He has 103 number of technical reports to his credit.

He has reviewed as a reviewer in various international peer reviewed journals such as Defence Science Journal (DSJ), International Ballistic Symposium (IBS), Journal of Modern Mechanical Engineering Technology (JMMET), Central European Journal of Energetic Materials (CEJEM), Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Vibration and Control, Journal of Thermal Engineering and Defence Technology. He is member of Editorial Advisory Board of Problems of Mechatronics Armament Aviation Safety Engineering Journal.

He is the recipient of ‘Armament award for the year 2006’ in recognition of the outstanding contributions of saving in FE and self-sufficiency in reliance and timely supply of cartridges to Users which helps to avoid Aircraft on Ground (AoG) situation. He received the first prize for the best paper poster presentation International High Energy Materials Conference & Exhibit (HEMCE) -2009 held at HEMRL. He received the Pinaka award for production and supply of cartridges to IAF in the year 2019 and 2022. He received certificate and gold medal on the occasion of National Science Day (NSD) oration in the year 2021. Further, he conferred with Technology Award in the year 2024 on the occasion of National Technology Day.

He is the member of Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI), High Energy Materials Society of India (HEMSI) and Society for Aerospace Quality and Reliability (SAQR).

He has guided many BE and ME students for completion of their project work.
Presently, one research scholar has completed his PhD under his guidance from DIAT, Pune.

He worked as evaluator for PhD thesis. He delivered many invited talks at Military Institute of Technology (MILIT), Pune, Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Pune , Engineering Colleges and Ammunition Factory, Pune etc.
